Skate Kingsville & Skill 2 Speed Power Skating

CODE OF CONDUCT & BEHAVIOURIAL EXPECTATIONS  POWER SKATING SESSIONS

Our sessions are filled with skill development and planned to maximize the time we have together on the ice.  In order for every participant to get the most out of each session the following Code of Conduct is expected and enforced.

·         Full hockey equipment is mandatory.  This includes MOUTHGUARDS and NECK GUARDS.

·         Skaters are to wait to enter the ice surface until the Zamboni doors have closed and a coach has entered the ice surface. NO bench doors open during ice resurfacing.

·         No sitting on or jumping over the boards at any time.

·         Skaters are expected to follow the Listen-Watch-Do teaching model; therefore, when instruction is being given, skaters are expected to be still and attentive, preventing distraction for others.

·         Absolutely NO playing with the puck OR skating around while coaches are speaking.

·         All skaters have the right to a safe environment both on and off the ice and, as such, verbal and or physical abuse of any kind will NOT be tolerated.

·         No horseplay, pushing, tripping, or intentional interference. There is a strict hands-off policy.

·         After a fall, skaters are expected to get up promptly in order to keep pathways clear for other skaters, unless the injury is severe and the skater cannot get up.

·         Skaters are not allowed to leave the ice surface without notifying a coach.

·         Skaters must clear the ice promptly at the end of each session using the coach-designated exit which is the player/team box doors.

·         Parents may watch skaters from the stands or through the glass so as to not interfere with lessons or block access to the ice surface.

·         Parents are not allowed on the ice or in the benches during sessions.

We do not run drills, we teach skills which requires a focused effort.  When the rules are not followed, it creates an unsafe environment, it affects the delivery of the program, and takes away from skaters who want to learn.

If a skater is not behaving within the guidelines, parents will be contacted to determine the best way to resolve the behaviour.  Resolution could be, but not limited to, the parent speaking with their skater, the parent and skater having a meeting with the coaches or a refund being issued for the remaining sessions.
